Haven't you always wanted a scent based on photos in a book based on an album? Well? Haven't you? Your days of agonized waiting are over. Black Phoenix Alchemy lab has created a line of romantic and slightly dangerous scents based on a book, Who Killed Amanda Palmer?, inspired by Ms. Palmer's solo album, illustrated with crime scene photographs, and accompanied by Neil Gaman fiction. Wow! These little black bottles are rolling around BUST HQ and they have the most enchanting, morbid, tiny crime scene illustrations, much like the book cover below, and smell amazing.

The scents have names like 'Daylilies at the Bottom of the Stairs,' Cupcake Spatter Pattern Analysis' and 'Unfortunate Shopping Cart'. of the proceeds go toward protecting the first amendment rights of members of the comics community. Get your own 'scent evidence' at www.postwartrade.com, and visit http://whokilledamandapalmer.com to get your hands on the book, music, and more. -Devan

I'm torn. I love this idea, but wasn't there a Blog last week on Bust complaining about the relevance of death and fashion (Drop-Dead Gorgeous?? Well, Not Really...)? Is it okay to like death in creative expression when it's a homicide, but not a suicide? Or is it okay because it's perfume and not clothes? Why can't last week's windows, and this week's perfume book BOTH be art?

You definitely have a point but having seen that post and just having read this one, there is a huge difference between 'blood spatter' across the windows of a famous store on a very well trafficed street and a line of products based on a book, based on a movie. Don't ya think? This is not promotional but rather an extension on a theme - storyline. Whereas those bizarre windows were a marketing ploy and a disgusting and degrading one at that. Why didn't they have dudes being sliced up by women in the windows too? Anyway, not to linger on my obvious hatred of those window displays...

I think this whole product line sounds pretty damn cool...a little creepy maybe smilies/smiley.gif but interesting and something I'll definitely check out...
