What many fail to realize is that the hymen can be broken by ways other than intercourse. Sports and even horseback riding can cause it to tear. So just because a woman's hymen is broken does not necessarily mean she is not a virgin. It saddens me that women feel they need to fool their husbands like this for safety or other reasons...

I've been waiting for someone to say something about the myth of the hymen in the first place. Most hymens are never broken, unless one is penetrated or injured before beginning menses. With the onset of one's period, and estrogen increase, the hymen stretches and 'fluffs' out chilling around the opening of the vagina.

I never experienced the dreaded Breaking of the Hymen...My first time was pain-free and blood-free. So there, ancient practices!
