Women Did It First

Posted by: Intern Sheila J in Artsy |

When I was a teen I used to cut up old magazines to make photo collages. The walls of my room were covered with ads and personal photos of mismatched bodies and heads, one of them being Gwyneth Paltrow’s head on a baby’s body. I did this because I loved magazines and abstract art—in all its quirky and bizarre glory— and it definitely seemed like a postmodern art form innovated by male artists like Picasso. But ... Betty White has been getting a lot of well-deserved attention these days. We recently blogged about how much we love the ex-Golden Girl, as she proves that age ain't nothing but a number when it comes to relevance as an actress and comedienne.  According to Entertainment Weekly,  Saturday Night Live is close to having the 88-year-old host the show. I also went on the show to do research on the stereotyping machine ... Read More

Last week, we reported about the nonsensical policy to not let women ski jump in the Olympics (WTF: Women Can't Ski Jump in the Olympics), so we're pretty excited to see the whole situation garnering more press. While I personally tend to be wary of social-activism campaigns backed by ... Read More
