Betty White just gets cooler every day. I don't think I've been this much in love with a celebrity since Orlando Bloom, circa seventh grade— except Betty is actually awesome! I admit to stealing this idea (thank you, Eric), but it's so dead on I had to post. Janelle Monae's "Tightrope" may have gotten 23 million fewer hits on YouTube than Katy Perry's "California Girls," but no CGI gummy bears were injured in the making of this video. I think it makes a way better Song of the Summer. What do you think?

At this week's Converse: Three Artists, One Song show in Brooklyn, there were incredible mash-up performances by Kid Cudi, Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend, and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast. The unlikely combination of sweet ballad singing, rapping, and poppy/punky guitar playing made for an incredible summer song that anyone would love, and should push "California Gurls" out of the water.
