Maryam Keshavarz is an unwaveringly determined and passionate Iranian-American filmmaker. She has to be, because she’s created a film that defies expectations of her culture and has instantly created controversy. Every step of the film’s development has been fraught with complications, but Keshavarz and her team have persevered. Keshavarz’s film, Circumstance, takes place in modern-day Tehran, Iran, where a puritanical Islamic theocracy ... Read More

JC Penney, department store giant, is creating quite the buzz with a new shirt from their back-to-school collection. The decidedly anti-feminist juniors shirt is tag lined as Too Pretty to do Homework. The description of the shirt bears the question, “Who has time for homework when there’s a new Justin Bieber album out? She’ll love this T-shirt that is just as cute and sassy as she can be.”
While I wouldn’t suggest our ... Read More

It's no longer Monday, so I no longer want to hide under my covers and completely ignore the rays of sunlight piercing through my windows and poking at my eyelids. No way! I want to get up, get at 'em, fall into that catchy phrase "rise and grind," and get the body and brain waves moving. But, since I'm me, it takes much more than a shower and a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch to get me motivated. I'm always looking for inspiration, and when I ... Read More

It was to take effect on September 1.

Apparently, zebra finches (above) understand that it's not about the coloring or the shape of a potential mate's tail feather, but how one shakes it.

This is the first study to show that the ... Read More

We present to you the following roundup of mainly current and underground bands in hopes of shedding a little bit of light on these ... Read More
When you think of "cat fashion," you might think of cats in costumes or at least that's what google is giving me, but when I think "cat fashion," I think of these fantastically adorable Charlotte Olympia shoes. They are so ridiculously cute that I pulled a Rachel Zoe when I saw them and muttered something along the lines of, "ohmygosh, I die."
I found the red wedge version and oh look, it's on sale for only (ONLY?!) $895 at Bergdorf Goodman! Ok, ... Read More
I'm used to taking fashion cues from style icons of long ago, but Alexa Chung is one of the few modern gals whose style I love through and through. She's got an effortless and playful ease to her look that many girls, including myself, definitely covet. Her last collection for Madewell did extremely well and I'm still bummed out I never got my hands on this dress, but thankfully her new collection for Madewell is just as adorable and soon set to be sold online and ...
