At 583 Park Avenue last Wednesday, a group of about 350 people sat at round tables under the high ceiling and massive chandelier. Despite being outlawed in 2004, the rates of selective abortions of girls in India have substantially increased—particularly among the wealthier classes—according to a recent study published by The Lancet. This is an issue that is close to our hearts, former teacher and journalist, Marguerite Kearns is trying to get her grandmother's suffragette campaign wagon to be exhibited permanently at the New York State Museum in Albany, New York.
