Are you a bride-to-be or just a big fan of panties and burlesque? Tomorrow night at Town Shop in NYC Dirty Dolls Lingerie will be hosting a launch party for their line with a red carpet and VIP shopping event. You can get fitted for one of their righteously sexy bras and shop for panties, shapers and tap pants. All while drinking free wine and eating wedding cake (booze and sugar? for free? could you ask for more?). Plus you can get a makeover from The Glam Fairy and burlesque lessons from Jo Weldon of the New York School of Burlesque.
The event tomorrow is from 6-8 pm at Town Shop (2273 Broadway, between 81st and 82nd Streets) in Manhattan. The first 50 busty babes through the door will get a gift bag jam-packed with goodies - including a free issue of BUST!
A few months ago they brought free panties around for all the BUST ladies - our booties can attest to how cute and comfortable they are. -Liza
No, this one isn’t caused by that shirtless picture of Daniel Craig that randomly popped up in your last Google image search. This particular bizarre feeling in your south towns can actually be from your pants.
Apparently if your skinny jeans are a little too, uh, skinny, they can cause meralgia paresthetica or ‘tingling leg syndrome.’ It comes from excess pressure being put on your femeral nerve by restrictive denim, and it only gets worse if you pair them with heels. It sort of feels like your leg has fallen asleep. Hey, at least you won’t be able to feel the pain caused by the heels anymore.
Some people are more susceptible than others; it just depends on how sensitive your nerve is. Besides, the damage is rarely permanent. Once you get your pants off and relieve the pressure (I’m still talking about leg nerves, here, gutter-brain) the sensation should go away. But don’t say we didn’t warn ya. -Liza

If you really like food, or things that are shaped like other things, these purses might be perfect.
Hambags by Hannah Havana of Garudio Studiage are little vinyl purses and wallets shaped like food. Choose between a hot dog, a chicken leg and a burger for the purse, or pick up a Whopper Wallet, which is shaped like - you guessed it - the very fast food favorite it was named for. They all come with a chain strap
(the wallet has a chain wrist loop) and zip closed. And the Garudio Studiage Shop will ship internationally, if you’re interested.
Aren’t novelty-shaped purses great? So much fun. I’m inspired to bust out the guitar-shaped bag I haven’t carried in years. -Liza

Thanks to an article/segment from Good Morning America, I have a new blog crush: Young, Fat and Fabulous.
YFF is a blog run by a young woman named Gabi and it focuses on trendy fashion for plus-sized girls. The clothes she chooses to talk about are a little edgier than those usually featured on Fatshionista, and the blog in general is less political. Plus, YFF seems to focus a lot on the ‘’in-betweenie'’ set, which is the range of sizes that span the gap between straight sizes and plus (usually 12/14 to 18/20 or so).
One other awesome thing is that YFF focuses a LOT on buying the plus clothes on the cheap, which is awesome because, whoa, can it be hard to find cute stuff cheap if you wear over a size 12.
Time to flip through her past entries and drool over the clothes she has posted. -Liza

Every story about living on a budget seems to start out with the line ‘’in these tough economic times.'’
So, in these tough economic times, thrift store shopping seems like a really good idea. And the thrift stores have noticed. The New York Times published an article today about a new phenomenon - Goodwill boutiques.
These shops are still run by the Goodwill and they still use their profits for the same cause, but instead of being a big warehouse of worn-out, under-$5, nameless old clothes, they specifically carry donated designer wear and their prices reflect that. Now, for the item, the price is good - you’re not going to pay under $200 for Prada anywhere else - but they’re still a lot higher than the regular Goodwill shops.
But don’t worry, they aren’t abandoning their M.O. - most of their stores haven’t changed and you can still find the $5 cheapo duds if you want to. There are some regular Goodwill stores that have the designer stuff mixed in (the article mentions a $10 Vera Wang dress at a store in Harlem), too, which is great for a super bargain and someone who just loves the thrill of the hunt.
Goodwill isn’t the only place to score pricey stuff on the cheap (I totally scored some brand new Svoboda jeans last week at Re/Dress for about half their retail price). You may have to put in a little more work at other stores to dig through and find the gems, but that can be half the fun. Plus, a lot of them will also separate out luxury items. If you’re specifically looking for high-end, seek out one of these shops. Just don’t expect true Goodwill prices. -Liza

Are you one part all-American girl next door and one part risque party chick? Then Vine and Venetia may be exactly what you’re looking for. The line is based on the fictional story of two sisters: Vine, who is laid-back and prefers a quiet evening in with good friends and wine, and Venetia, a music-loving blogger who loves clubs and parties.
Malik S. founder of Vine and Venetia, conceived the idea in 2004 as representations of his friends. The company adopted the idea of ‘’Real People in Real Clothes'’ with his concept of two different people from two different walks of life converging on the same stage.
If your style has been feeling a little schizo lately, maybe you need some graphic tees that will play to both sides of you. -Liza
GoGoMarj is a cool online clothing store (part of RetroWardrobe.com) that sells recycled and recreated vintage pieces. Designer Meredith Fogg takes vintage fabrics, often from scarves that she finds at estate sales, and re-purposes them into skirts, belts, headbands, and so on.
She takes these old things and makes them into versatile pieces. Her skirts have gathered waists that fit a fairly wide range of sizes (most will stretch from 20′’-50′’ around the waist). Fogg boasts that her items can be worn different ways year round to accommodate all different climates. She also takes vintage scarves and ties to make belts and headbands, often adding rare and old buckles, either for function or for decoration. Read the rest of this entry »
The Australian version of Harper’s Bazaar featured ‘’plus-size'’ model Crystal Renn in a couture fashion spread (I put ‘’plus size'’ in quotes because she actually wears a size 12).
It’ not a special edition about plus sized models. It’s not a niche issue for curvy girls. It’s a couture fashion spread. With a plus sized model. And she looks just as hot as (if not more so than) skinny, ‘’straight-sized'’ models in the same scenarios.
We need more of this! And we need it to come to the US! We need to see women of all different sizes in print. And not in specialized areas; put curves in with sticks and whatever other shape analogies there are.
I love this spread. -Liza

I should add, please be advised that many of the comments at the original article are not kind. If you are very sensitive about this sort of thing, you may want to avoid them altogether. If you are a glutton for punishment, however, have fun.
