So maybe he’s not a band per se, but Brooklyn-based producer DATALOG  and his new EP, Threads, is worth an alert. Threads is a hazy, warm blend of electronica, jazz, and world beats, all wrapped up in one kicked-back, noir-tinged package. Fans of everything from Flying Lotus to Massive Attack take note. Songs like “Sink Babies” offer subtle samples and thumps aplenty; the title track is a melancholy acid trip that demands ass shaking. Not only are the songs refreshingly chill, but his face is a welcome addition to the au courant world of knob-turners. SHWING!
