Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ve likely heard of the controversial (and best-selling) romance novel Fifty Shades of Grey, either through whispers from friends, the media debates about the novel’s BDSM content, or by glimpsing the cover over and over in the hands of women looking for a little fantasy while taking the train to work.
Whether you’re a hardcore fan, a frustrated foe, or simply ambivalent about the novel’s writing and content, it’s hard to deny the fact that certain sexual scenarios detailed in the book sound incredibly enthralling. For those of you interested in bringing the fantasies depicted in the book into reality with your partner, you can do so -- for a price.
Several Seattle and Portland hotels are trying to keep up with reader fantasies while capitalizing on the fact that the novel is set in the Pacific Northwest by offering luxury vacation packages centered upon locations and experiences in the book. Helicopter ride around Seattle? Check. A picnic and the male protagonist’s favorite wine? Check. All yours for a mere two grand for two nights. And that doesn’t even include the bondage gear.
