Ladies: Don’t you love it when you're on your way to work or the hardware store, or just taking a relaxing stroll on a nice day, and someone approaches you to express his desire to boink you? You don’t? Me neither! Instead of using your just-purchased screwdriver to dole out some street justice, you may soon be able to use a new iPhone app to deal with these annoying a-holes.

NY Daily News reports that NY City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Councilman Julissa Ferreras have approved $20,000 in city funding to develop an app from Hollaback!, a nonprofit known and loved by BUST. The app allows women to report their street harassment stories, and even upload pictures of the offenders. It also allows victims to report their harassers directly to the city.

Though Hollaback! is based in NYC, it has 52 sister sites around the world, and hopefully the app will spread as well. Safer, calmer, catcall-free walks: a lady can dream, right?
