Adrienne Rich, a renowned feminist poet and essayist died Tuesday in her Santa Cruz home from complications with rheumatoid arthritis. She was 82.
Rich’s writing centered on her observations and reflections on women’s rights, racism, civil rights, politics, sexuality and sexuality between women. She brought to the forefront issues that plagued women in the 1950s and was a true pioneer of the feminist movement.

A recent study conducted by Medco, a company that manages prescription benefits, found that in 2010, women took medication to treat depression or anxiety at a higher rate than men. In a study of two million patients, pharmacy records showed that 26 percent of women took drugs to treat mental-health issues in 2010, compared to 22 percent in 2001. Only 15 percent of men took the same medications in 2010 (up from 12 percent in 2001).

It comes as no surprise that sponsors are continuing to pull their ads from "The Rush Limbaugh Show"-- no company wants to be part of a program that's the subject of a major national backlash.
