Lotsa people will be hitting the polls to cast their vote for President, and we’ve compiled a list of reasons why you should most definitely be one of them. 1. Voting is a super easy way to make your voice heard--cliche, yes, but true--and feel like you’re contributing to our country’s future. 2. Yesterday we reported an apparent hate crime on Sharmeka Moffitt, a 20-year-old from Louisiana, who was allegedly set on fire by three men who then scrawled ‘KKK’ on her vehicle. Well, in a completely bizarre and unexpected twist, Louisiana authorities reported that Sharmeka confessed to setting herself on fire and fabricated the story about the three men attacking her. Sharmeka, who is currently in the hospital in critical ... Read More
Trigger Warning In an extremely personal and honest new song, Angel Haze comes clean: she raps about being repeatedly sexually abused as a child by more than one attacker. Distressingly, when she told others about it, they either wouldn’t believe her or placed the blame on her.  The assault she dealt with during her upbringing obviously caused a lot of pain -  both physical and mental. “I was afraid of myself, I had no love for ...   On Sunday night, 20-year-old Sharmeka Moffitt was walking through a park in northeastern Lousiana when three men approached her, covered her in flammable liquid, and set her on fire. Sharmeka put out the flames with a spigot and called 911. She suffered burns to over half of her body and was still in the hospital in critical condition as of yesterday.  The three men also wrote the letters ‘KKK’ and a racial slur on her car in a paste-like ... As the vid’s description states,  “Women, ... Read More

Watching the debate last night, we couldn't help but notice a lot of similarities between the Presidential/Vice-Presidential debates and the always-entertaining Real Housewives of New Jersey reunions.  1. They get in each other's faces. Who would even want to watch a Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion in which they don't get in each other's faces?!  2. They call each other liars. Even Candy Crowley backed Obama up when Romney was spewing ... Read More
Last night, after Mitt Romney made a comment about “binders full of women,” social media took the unintentionally hilarious phrase and ran with it - a tumblr has already been created.  ln keeping with Romney’s idea that women are simply stored in paper documents, Brainpickings has posted a list of twelve rules dated 1943 (possibly found in a binder somewhere) that any decent woman should follow. Women shall not appear on the ... The First Time, written and directed by Jonathan Kasdan (In the Land of Women, Californication), stars Dylan O’Brien (MTV’s Teen Wolf), Britt Robertson, and Victoria Justice (Nickelodeon’s Victorious). The Sundance Film Festival hit is meant to be a more realistic take on a teenage love story, and it does a good job of capturing the awkwardness and stress that a lot of us often experienced as teenagers.  The sweet and earnest Dave ...
