When it comes to werewolves, there are a few words you can usually expect to hear. 'Taylor Lautner,' 'teen wolf' and 'chiseled abs' are a few of the usual suspects. 'Lesbians' and--hell--even 'girls' are far more rare. The most high profile werechick on TV right now is Rikki (Kelly Overton) on True Blood, the girl Alcide is trying to sexercise with while practicing for his impending pack leader battle.
But, that’s about to change with June Temple (Dark Knight, Small Apartments) as an innocent burgeoning lesbian turned werewolf. Jack (Riley Keough) and Diane (Temple) meet and fall for each other quickly, but Diane must leave New York City soon and Jack tries to push her new ladylove away. The supernaturally sized problem is that “Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire is giving her werewolf-like visions,” according to IMDb.
J&D’s very eerie trailer debuted this week. It reminded me of a lot of other Magnolia Pictures trailers like Take This Waltz or Melancholia. They’re beautiful, thoughtful and delicate. They’re also foreboding, reminding us that it's never just going to be sunshine and rainbows. For Jack and Diane, it is the creepy blood or hair images that are cut in, along with the very stage-five-clinger murmur, “I just wanna, like, unzip my body and put you in there,” which give away that something dark is about to happen. J&D hits theaters November 2, but you can enjoy it via video on demand as soon as September 28. Watch the trailer for yourself below and let us know what you think!
Also: did the mom remind anyone else of the Black Swan mother? And what was Kylie Minogue doing there?!
