Sadly, I missed last week’s episode of OUAT due to Hurricane Sandy–however, I am grateful that I didn’t have any actual problems to deal with. But it gave me some time to rethink my weekly recaps, and instead of doing a long, boring recap of every scene, I’ve decided to focus on five hilarious, shocking, bewildering, or just WTF moments from each episode.  Without further delay, here’s what happened in this week's episode:

Emma’s Past. The episode is called Tallahassee, and for a good reason. The episode starts with Emma breaking into and stealing a car, which we have come to know as her car, the familiar yellow VW Beetle. Wow, never pinned Emma for a thief. Everything that she does and everything that happens to her in Portland, Oregon is shocking, and a welcome change to the usual format of the show. For some reason it never occurred to me that Emma had an exciting past, besides the fact that she was an orphan. She has a whirlwind romance with a man named Neal Cassidy, who looks familiar. Which brings me to the next exciting point:

Emma (who looks as shocked as I feel!)

NEAL FUCKING CASSIDY. I am so excited. Neal is such a great character-even though he’s committed crimes and is willing to risk Emma’s future so they can have a better one (when she offer’s to go get the watches). Despite all of his wrongdoing, he does seem to be a very playful, somewhat sensitive guy. He is just misguided in his intentions. There is something so loveable about him. (Or maybe I just find him kind of attractive.) It looks like there will be more of Neal, because as it turns out:

Neal and Emma hit it off

NEAL IS THE GUY WHO GOT THE POSTCARD IN THE SEASON TWO OPENER. Oh man.  I freaked when I realized what was going on. August, who is Emma’s “guardian angel” of sorts, has made himself responsible for her future and making sure she gets to Storybrooke in the future to break it of its curse. August finds Neal and says he needs to let Emma go so that she can fulfill her destiny. He shows Neal something in a box that he says will make him believe in magic and let Emma go. WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!?!?!?! In any case, August promises to send Neal a postcard when the curse has broken and he can be with Emma again, so hopefully Neal makes his way to Storybrooke in the future. SO excited. Really.  I watched it over an hour ago and that’s still been the most exciting part of my day.

August convinces Neal to let Emma go

Jorge Garcia as the Giant. I’m not sure how exciting this was, as it wasn’t surprising.  But it was very interesting. In case you don’t know, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are the producers and writers of OUAT; they also produced and wrote Lost, which I had an interest in for the first few seasons. It makes sense that they chose Jorge Garcia to play the Giant, he seemed to fit the character well. However, the Giant was a predictable character, being very mean at first and then suddenly having emotions. Turns out he isn’t as heartless as first thought. I still expected Garcia’s character to be more complex.

Sleeping Beauty and Henry are in the same dream. In this episode, Sleeping Beauty tells Snow how she doesn’t sleep much anymore because she has this terrible dream about a completely red room, with blood-red curtains that are on fire. There are no windows or doors in the room. She says she is hunkered down in a corner, and in the opposite corner she can see the eyes of a boy staring at her.  The very last scene is Henry waking up from the very same nightmare. It’s so weird that they’re in the same dream, but don’t know about it.  I wonder what their connection is, and why they’re having that dream. CRAY.

Stay tuned for next week...I know I’ll be watching.
