As a huge Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge fan, I've been anticipating director Baz Luhrmann's take on The Great Gatsby ever since I heard the film was in development. Judging by the trailer, the adaptation seems just as glitzy and over the top as I hoped it would be. The last time Gatsby was remade for film was in 1974 by director Jack Clayton. This version starred Robert Redford and Mia Farrow as Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan. I'm eager to see how Leo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan will measure up to these legends. We'll have to wait until Christmas to truly see, though you can place your bets in the comment box.
