Even though it David won’t be competing in this year’s Games, it seems a Beckham will still be a star at the 2012 London Olympics this August. In June, we reported about The Spice Girls reuniting for the first time since 2008 for the launch of their musical “Viva Forever,” and now it has been officially confirmed that the Spice Girls will officially be reuniting for a two-song performance at the closing ceremony of the London Olympic games on August 12.
Despite some initial hesitations, the British pop group-which includes Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice)-will reportedly be performing along side other UK music stars including George Michael, Take That, The Who, and Jessie J at the finale event in Hyde Park. The ladies are reportedly set to perform Wannabe, their 1996 debut song that topped the charts in over 30 countries (and we still haven’t quite been able to get out of our heads 16 years later). And despite reports that this performance will be a one-time-only reunion, when it comes to the Spice Girls we’ll take what we can get.
