Saturday Night Live's, Vanessa Bayer, plays a fake media coach named “Janessa Slater” on a YouTube talk show Sound Advice. Let me tell you, it is freakin’ amazing and I seriously don't know how am I just finding out about this...Similar to Galifianakis’ comedic talk show, Between Two Ferns, Bayer (or I should say Slater), mocks her guests in a way that only makes herself look bad. Today she has a meeting with Tegan and ... Read More

The Maya Rudolph Show is like being kicked in the face with a sparkly tap shoe, and I want more.Maya Rudolph, long-time former SNL cast member and star of the hit movie Bridesmaids, said in an interview with Seth Meyers, "Young folks have probably never experienced the joys of corny but wonderful but grand, feather boas and sparkles and people singing songs and telling corny jokes but guests dropping in and stopping by…" True, I don't think I have ... Your rainy, grim Thursday (well, here on the East Coast...) is about to turn sunny-side up, amigos. Put another way: happy birthday everyone, across time and space.Rudolph (a former BUST cover-gal, btw) spoke to Vulture about the ins and outs of building her own television show from the ground ... Not too long ago we were rallying to get a female replacement after Letterman’s departure…but what’s the next best thing besides replacing a big late night name? Endeavoring into uncharted waters and getting the chance to start your own show! I’m counting my lucky stars and sending major support to Maya Rudolph now that she has been elected to try out her own (trial run) late night variety show on NBC. We knew how chill Maya was after ... Thank goodness Saturday Night Live is finally listening to the national demand for representation of female comedians of color. In addition to adding the great artist Sasheer Zamata to the cast, the series has added two talented black women comedians, LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones, to its writing staff.
SNL took serious note of the women during their recent auditions, which featured minority women exclusively, snatching them up for two ... Read More

The Saga of SNL's Race Problem has finally come to what seems like an end (or is at least moving in the right direction)! After being criticized by Jay Pharoah for its lack of black women in the cast, Kenan Thompson's controversial comments about the issue, the show itself acknowledging the problem on Kerry Washington's episode, and creator Lorne Michaels holding an ass-covering audition for only black women comedians, Saturday Night Live has finally picked ... In "things that should have happened ten years ago but are just happening now" news, Saturday Night Live has finally auditioned black female cast members.
When Kerry Washington hosted last month, the writers addressed the long-standing issue with a tongue-in-cheek statement about the show being a white-guy-fest, but actions speak louder than words--and action there was not!
But now it's being revealed that a sold-out showcase in Los Angeles last weekend ... Read More

This past Saturday’s SNL was a step up from the show’s material of late, with host Lady Gaga proving to be an actually pretty funny lady. What would have made the show even better, however, is this crazy unaired skit titled, “Female Sea Captains,” which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
Watch Lady Gaga and the rest of the kick-ass SNL ladies sail the high seas (sort of), mock traditional female stereotypes, and speak in crazy ... Read More

It’s only been a few weeks since veteran Saturday Night Live player Kenan Thompson made a statement regarding the lack of African-American women in SNL's cast. This issue is something that has been largely un-addressed since Maya Rudolph's 2007 departure from the sketch comedy show. Should we be ashamed we've let that slip for the last six years? Probably. But there are people who want a better answer than that.
