Some disturbing news: according to a survey done in London reported by the BBC, women are more likely than men to place blame on rape victims. Wait, what? According to the article: “Almost three quarters of the women who believed this said if a victim got into bed with the assailant before an attack they should accept some responsibility.

One-third blamed victims who had dressed provocatively or gone back to the attacker's house for a drink."

Furthermore, “Of the women who believed some victims should take responsibility, 71% thought a person should accept responsibility when getting into bed with someone, compared with 57% of men.”

Personally, I’m appalled. While it’s believable that there would be women out there that put the blame on rape victims, I had no idea the number was so high. Given, the sample was rather small (1,061 people ages 18 to 50, 712 women and 349 men) but the statistics are what they are. We’ve got a long way to go in terms of compassion towards victims, even with our fellow women.
