We love us some Louis CK around here, so we were super disappointed when news came out that he had tweeted his support of Daniel Tosh during the time of the rape joke controversy that surrounded him.

Louis must have been pretty disappointed about it himself, so he went on The Daily Show last nite, basically to explain his position. He said that he was on vacation in Vermont, detached from the internet, and decided to tweet that he enjoyed Daniel Tosh's humor because he happened to be watching his show while in a hotel. In essence, he said he didn't know about the rape joke controversy and that his tweet definitely had nothing to do with it. He even sounded upset that he was being called a "rape joke apologist" because of a stupid tweet he made that had nothing to do with Tosh's rape jokes. Awww, Louis, we knew we could count on you, you big, funny, cuddly, sexy bear, you!

But he didn't stop there. No, he went on to clarify his position.

His first point:

"This is a fight between comedians and bloggers," he said, "because it's all just hyperbole and garbage [that comes out of those two places.]"

LOL! It's funny 'cause it's true!

His next point:

"But it's also a fight between comedians and feminists, which are natural enemies...because, stereotypically speaking, feminists can't take a joke."

Oh no, Louis, you aren't going to go there, are you?

Even the studio audience was groaning at this point. So, he reiterates [to the audience]:

"stereotypically speaking!.. And comedians can't take criticism -- comedians are big pussies!"

As he sees it, the rape joke controversy should actually be seen as a teaching moment...

"To me, all dialogue is positive. I think you should listen. If somebody has the opposite feeling from me, I want to hear it, that's how I feel. "

But he goes on.

"For me, any joke about anything bad is great. That's how I feel. About rape, the holocaust, the Mets--whatever. Any joke about anything bad is a positive thing."

Really, Louis? Really? Like, a joke about slavery would be funny? Cause I don't hear white comedians telling those very often.

And then he goes on.

"I've read some blogs that have enlightened me. This woman said that rape is something that polices woman's lives -- they can't go out late, they can't go to certain neighborhoods . That [knowledge] is part of me now... "

Well, Louis, it's amazing to me that you never considered rape from the point of view of a woman before, because I've always thought you were a pretty thoughtful guy. But I'm glad to hear that you've given the subject some consideration and are educating yourself about it.

"...and I can still enjoy a good rape joke."

Finally, Louis concludes that the controversy is even a bit men-are-from-mars-women-are-from-venus-y.

"This is also about men and women...they're both making a gender mistake. Women are saying 'Here's how I feel about this' but they're also saying, 'My feelings should be everyone's primary concern.' The men are making this mistake: They're saying, 'Your feelings don't matter, your feelings are wrong, your feelings are stupid.' So for the men I say, 'Listen, listen to what the women are saying about this,' and to the women I say, 'Now that we've heard you, shut the fuck up for a minute, and let's all get back together and ... kill the Jews!"

Ba-dump-bump!

So, in conclusion....Louis CK may not be a rape joke apologist...but then maybe he sorta is...but not. I don't know.
