About Rational Animal:
Rational Animal was founded in New York City in 2002 by Susan Brandt, a media professional with a passion for animals. The organization’s mission is to increase public awareness about at-risk animals in New York City - those animals whose lives and well-being are in jeopardy. RA creates media campaigns and special events to advocate primarily for homeless companion animals. This volunteer organization is driven by a core of writers, artists and designers, filmmakers, editors, and event planners, researchers and ethologists - all animal lovers who use their talents to creatively produce media to increase awareness for the animals that need our help.
The Gimme Shelter: Rock & Rescue benefit concert is also presented by Highline Ballroom, Mudhoney Salon, Save The Chimps, NY1 News, GBH TV, Zipang Sparkling Sake, Lagunitas Brewing Company and Red Jacket Orchards.
