Through out the centuries Arabian cultures have provided the delicious other for the Western teeth to chew on. Both villainous and seductive, a plethora of characters ranging from Aladdin to Osama Bin Laden have inspired our collective imagination with their stories of wit and horror while Arabian women both sultry and forbidden have danced through our dreams veiled in silk or covered head to toe. HyperGender Burlesque bravely faces the challenge of facing our own
demons while exploring the stereotypes we have created through centuries of ignorance and fascination.
Hosts: N and JZ Bich as Shahryar, the king, and Scheherazade, the
learned woman.
Guests to help tell the tales:
Delirium Tremens,
Kipps Ahoy
The Luvely Rae,
Jared the Conjurer
and special belly dancing guest
Barushka
