The inaugural Punk Rope Olympics will take place on Sat, May 16 at softball field #2 in McCarren Park, Williamsburg (Brooklyn) from 2pm-4pm with a post-competition awards ceremony and picnic to immeditately follow. Ten teams of 4 athletes each will compete in 8 events for the coveted Punk Rope cup, as well as for prizes donated by Gotham Girls Roller Derby, Uzi, Vinnie’s Pizzeria, The Diamond, The Habitat, and Punk Rope. The Bean Bar will be serving FREE iced coffee and VitaCoco will be offering FREE coconut water. Events include the furry fling shot put, the rubber chicken relay, the human chariot race, and knitting circle. If you want to keep track of the scoring, it’s simple: gold earns 11 team points, silver is good for 8, and bronze snags 5. While the event is sold out in terms of competing, spectators are strongly encouraged to attend! It’s free to watch. Softball field #2 is across the street from the Automotive High School off Bedford between N. 12th & Lorimer. The L to Bedford will get you within a 10 minute walk. The picnic is BYO.
