VICTORIA: A party for FTFs, Faux Queens ...and the gay men trapped in your vagina
School may be out for the summer, but at Victoria, the party is just getting started. Join us on Saturday, June 13th, for our first-ever frat party as we celebrate busty cardigans with Greek letters, flip cup, beer helmets, slutty sororities, and the collegiate spirit!
The incredible Bridget Everett hosts the 12am show, which includes performances by Varsity Interpretive Dance Squad, Switch N’ Play, the Betsy Luann Barker Memorial Marching Band, Harley Dear, and Lady Coco Lareau. DJ Amber Martin spins the music from your college years! Dress code: slutty collegiate tranny.
As always, we have Lady Coco Lareau in the style station, dressing you up like the queen you always wanted to be but didn't know how. She'll help you get those lashes on right! Fabulous clothes donated by Hooti Couture are yours to take home--after you enter the runway contest, where you can win great prizes for a 5-second shimmy!
What is a faux queen?
A faux queen is someone who lives their day to day life as a female, and who portrays femininity either through performance or fashion. Think Julie Andrews in the classic film Victor Victoria—a woman playing a man playing a woman. At VICTORIA, guests can distance themselves from the femininity with which they were born or raised, and portray femininity the way it's imagined. As World Famous *BOB* explained, "Courtney Cox is a real woman. Dolly Parton is a female-to-female drag queen."
VICTORIA was featured in BUST Magazine’s April/May 2008 issue ("The Feminine Mystique"), and has been seen in the Village Voice (“Best of New Yorkâ€), GO Magazine, Next, the L Magazine, HX, ErosZine and Time Out New York ("Best of 2007").
VICTORIA is a non-profit event, benefiting different charities each month. We have contributed to Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, Rosie's Broadway Kids, Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders, and the Ali Forney Center.
