Giorgio Moroder wrote the song On the Radio (with lyrics and vocals by Donna Summer) for this realistic take on teenage girls in the San Fernando Valley. Jeannie (Jodie Foster) struggles to act mature while also having a good time with her friends, a group she feels responsible for. Annie (Cherie Currie of The Runaways) is the most self-destructive of the bunch, with handfuls of Quaaludes to go around and beers in the morning before school. This is no afterschool special – with believable characters and a frank depiction of teens dealing with sex and drugs, Foxes was a remarkable debut for director Adrian Lyne, who would again collaborate with Moroder as composer forFlashdance. Part of the Electronic Dream: Giorgio Moroder Film + Music series. Director: Adrian Lyne. 106 min. 1980. 35mm. |
