Event: 'Colloque Nouvelles écritures Féministes (New Feminist Writings) - Montreal, QC' Print
  Feminist
Date: Saturday, June 04, 2011 At 09:00 AM
Duration: 2 Days
Contact Info:
UQAM Women Centre CP 8888 succ. Centre-ville Montreal QC H3C 3P8 514-987-3000 #8940
Email: nefuqam@gmail.com

This two day event will look at the relationship between the act of writing and feminisms in Quebec and in general. The conferences offered will try to establish links between the publication of magazines and zines, and the current expression of feminism through the web 2.0. There will also be an exhibit on the history of feminist publication, as well as a show featuring humour, music, and slam.

Our objectives are to:

  • Break the isolation of young feminists by allowing them to meet;

  • Show the initiatives taken by past generations and recognize them as part of our history;

  • Publicize a variety of feminist publications, in paper or electronic format;

  • Allow participants to discover the ways technology can be used to broadcast a messag

The event is organized by a group of feminist students from the women centre at UQAM university in Montreal, Quebec. The majority of the event will be in French; however, we will be able to offer a form of translation in English if one is needed.

Nos objectifs:

  • Briser l'isolement des jeunes féministes en leur permettant de se rencontrer;

  • Mettre en valeur les initiatives portées par les générations précédentes afin de les reconnaître comme faisant partie de notre histoire;

  • Publiciser les différentes publications féministes, autant celles en format papier qu'électronique;

  • Permettre aux participant.e.s de découvrir les manières possibles d'utiliser les technologies pour diffuser leurs idées.
