Foodgazi’s Meatless Monday Specials Begin July 11 at Palookaville

Foodgazi, vegan/vegetarian cooking classes and catering company, brings its delish dishes to the masses all day every Monday at Palookaville (3900 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland).

Foodgazi owners Melody Caraballo and Liz Vondrak are excited to help Cleveland participate in the national Meatless Monday campaign by offering new, healthier options to the community. They’ll be using local foods to create items such as chipotle black bean burgers, sweet potato salad with lime vinaigrette, and a southwestern quinoa salad -- which happen to be the first special. Also, in true P’ville style, the foods will be at your table in no time!

But it’s not just about the menu, Meatless Monday is a movement! The list of reasons it’s smart and easy to eat meatless one day a week is endless, including medical and environmental motivators. Just one meatless day a week cuts one’s saturated fat intake by an impressive 15%, reducing risk of chronic, preventable illnesses.  If every American skipped eating chicken just once a week, the positive environmental impact would be the equivalent of taking 8 million cars off the road.

Foodgazi began its plant-based cooking classes June 2010 and catering June 2011. Moving from church kitchens to their own kitchen at 11201 Detroit Avenue, they’ve been able to create a homey environment for their two-hour, hands-on classes. Classes feature two- and three-course meals made by students who all sit down to eat family-style at the end of class. Foodgazi’s catering features gourmet hors d'oeuvres, boxed lunches, buffet dinners, and brunches made not only with local foods, but passion.
