Mayor Dawn Zimmer & the City of Hoboken proudly present The Sounds of Hoboken: A Free Citywide Musical Celebration.
Hoboken has always had a rich musical history, from being the birthplace of Frank Sinatra, the place where Stephen Foster wrote "I Dream of Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair," to the beginning of its independent music scene in the late 70s, spawning what was dubbed "The Hoboken Sound" in a documentary of the same name in 1985 with bands like The Bongos, The Feelies, The Cucumbers, The dB's, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo and many more.
This free musical celebration that will take place all around the city on Sunday June 10th from 11am until 7pm. On that day, dozens of public spaces will become impromptu stages for free concerts by local musicians. Set times will range from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. All performances must be family friendly.
