In the past year, a number of major museum directorships in the New York area have gone to women. Among them are Margarita J. Aguilar, Executive Director of El Museo del Barrio in New York; Alyson Baker, Director of the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut; and Claudia Gould, Helen Goldsmith Menschel Director of the Jewish Museum in New York City. In a program organized by ArtTable, the national membership organization for women in leadership positions in the visual arts, this group of directors will discuss the particular challenges they have faced in the first year of their new appointments and how their careers have prepared them for their new jobs. Moderating this panel will be Susan Henshaw Jones, Ronay Menschel Director of the Museum of the City of New York and most recently, the new President of the South Street Seaport Museum. A reception will follow. Reservations and prepayment required: $10 Museum members, seniors and students; $15 general public |
