From the Artist:
I dedicate this solo art exhibit to my Poppa-Arthur
“Art” John

Clow, December 19, 1932-December 3, 2012. Poppa loved nature and the
landscape...he taught me how to tell the difference between a red oak
and white oak tree. I always make sure I have a small pocket knife with me because he always carried one and it reminds me of him. My Poppa was the epitome of love and kindness and I strive to be more like him...he will always be in my heart.

Bio:
Jamie-Lou Nicol was born in Kingston, Ontario in 1981 and raised in the
small town of Verona located north of Kingston. Nicol graduated from
the Sheridan College Crafts and Design program with a major in Advanced Glass Forming. Over the years, she has exhibited her artwork in Ontario at numerous galleries and arts and craft shows. Most recently Jamie-Lou articipated in the group show “CHROMA” at #Hashtag gallery and exhibited her own solo show “Perception of Landforms 2009-2012″ at Crema Coffee Co., both located in Toronto, Ontario.

Jamie-Lou uses various art mediums to express the conceptualization of
topography, cartography, the cycle of nature and how it connects with
the birth, life and death sequence of the Universe. She currently lives and
works as an artist in the west end of Toronto.

About:
Jamie-Lou Nicol has been an artist ever since her parents gave her
something to scribble with. She grew up in the small town of Verona,
Ontario with a loving family and a house full of pets. While attending
Sheridan College for glass blowing her roommates included a 200 pound
pot bellied pig (that shared her love for popcorn), a dachshund, 2 cats and
3 humble, red foot tortoises. She loves snail mail, dance parties, looks
10 years younger than her actual age, is a libra-scorpio cusp born and
covets her collection of writing utensils. Her artwork has been described as colourful, whimsical, obscure, textural, unpredictable and enigmatic.
Jamie-Lou currently lives and works as an artist in Toronto, Ontario
with her miniature dachshund, calico cat and aquarium full of fish. During
the warm weather you’ll find her sketching under the trees in High
Park and going for long strolls through the city. Someday you will find her
living in an A-Frame studio in the woods, beside a river with a willow
tree.
