The Other F Word, LA (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM)

The Other F Word is a play that shows how a tiny thing like a pen can transform people's lives forever," said playwright Alyson Mead. "I was inspired by today's social and political activism, often done online, where people may never meet one another face to face. In following four characters through a shared experience like the one depicted in the play, I was pleasantly surprised by where they led me."

The Other F Word is about four strangers who meet one afternoon at a focus group tasked with marketing pens specifically designed for women. Daniel, Carol, Roxanne and Evie each have a unique story to tell, but will they find common ground at the conference table, or allow their beliefs to divide them forever? What happens when people decide to put human beings before marketing? The Other F Word answers those questions in a funny, moving and ultimately empowering comedy.

"It was the voice of The Other F Word that pulled me in right away," said director Danielle Ozymandias. "The characters in the play had me from page one, and I knew I was in for a thrilling ride."

The play will run for four performances at the Lounge Theater during the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

New Jersey-Cupcakefest 2013! (All Day)

Vegan bakery Sweet Avenue Bake Shop has announced the Montclair Township Animal Shelter as the beneficiary for the annual Cupcakefest (www.Cupcakefest.com).

Taking place Saturday, June 22 at Rutherford’s Lincoln Park Bandshell (176 Park Avenue), this daylong celebration of music and cupcakes includes raffles, vendors, and a cupcake eating contest.

“We have chosen the Montclair Township Animal Shelter because they work tirelessly to find permanent homes for homeless pets. In addition, the Friends of Montclair Township Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer, non-profit  group dedicated to supporting the work of the shelter through fundraising for needs above and beyond the shelter’s budget,” says Jake Vance, co-owner of Sweet Avenue Bake Shop and co-founder of Cupcakefest. “We started Cupcakefest to be able to use our influence in the community to help some of the countless animals in shelters across New Jersey.”

Cupcakefest 2013 is free to attend. Pet supply donations are encouraged. Now in it's sixth year, Cupcakefest has over $15,000 for New Jersey animal organizations.
