Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon ( 12:00 - noon - 6:00 pm )

Join us in New York City for an all day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to contemporary art and feminism. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, childcare and refreshments. Bring your laptop, powercord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. For the editing-averse, we urge you to stop by to show your support.

Check out the website to see the rest of the 17 satellite edit-a-thons also happening internationally.

Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well documented. In a 2010 survey it was revealed that less than 13% of its contributors identify as female. The reasons for the gender gap are up for debate: suggestions include leisure inequality, how gender socialization shapes public behavior, and the contentious nature of exchanges between Wikipedia editors. However, the practical effect of this disparity is clear—with more articles on notable women missing when compared to Encyclopaedia Britannica—Wikipedia is clearly skewed. This represents a huge inequality in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge. Let's change that.

Leslie And The Ly's (Chicago) ( 9:30 pm )

Leslie Hall first became an internet sensation when she uploaded pictures of her gem sweater collection online. After quickly attracting over 2 million hits, she was left with an $800 bill for exceeding bandwidth. In order to pay back her mother, Leslie did what any 200 lb plus Iowan girl would do, she became a lady rapper. Since then, Hall has toured relentlessly with Leslie and the LY's, self-released 5 full-length albums, and produced such viral video hits as Gold Pants, Zombie Killer, How We Go Out, Blame the Booty, and Tight Pants/Body Rolls. The band's ever-evolving live show features elaborate props, flashy costumes, and Las Vegas style production at Midwest prices. You will squeal with delight when Leslie tumbles and
triumphs across the stage.

Dean, Delilah, and Delilah will charm you with their unique brand of prairie-folk ballads and leave you longing for simpler times.

Best known for their controversial wiggle straw gag, Boone County Comedy Troupe have been making laughers laugh ever since they filled that "comedians needed" want ad in the Pennysaver.

See her perform at the Empty Bottle in Chicago!

"How To Lose Your Virginity" Documentary Premieres ( 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm )

Fusion has acquired the US broadcast rights to the documentary “How to Lose Your Virginity,” produced by Therese Shechter and Lisa Esselstein. The documentary uncovers the myths and misogyny surrounding a rite of passage that many obsess about but few truly understand.

Filmmaker Therese Shechter uses her own path out of virginity to explore why our sex-crazed society cherishes this so-called 'precious gift.' Along the way, viewers are introduced to sex educators, virginity auctioneers, abstinence advocates, and young men and women who bare their tales of doing it—or not doing it.

Pizza Forever: Artwork By Jes Marie ( 8:00 pm )

Boyfr(iend). Girlfri(end). Pi(forever)zza!

While most kids played house, a devious little Jes was getting scolded by her mom for playing 'tattoo parlor' with her friends using permanent marker. Ironically, this questionable behavior led to her current career as a full-time tattoo artist, who still has a penchant for the things she loved at the age of six, especially Hello Kitty, glitter and the color pink.

While she prefers neotraditional tattooing, Jes is always up for a challenge. This feisty Pisces was born and raised in New York. When she's not slinging ink, she can be found overdosing on junk food, scanning Netflix for endless hours, and making artwork that you'll see at Two Boots Jersey City!

Join us in celebrating life, love, and pizza with Jes Marie.

French Horn Rebellion LIVE (Denver, CO) ( 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm )

Winter is here. As the snow falls and icicles form we need to keep a fire in our hearts. We pack into cozy bars to get warm and dance by the firelight to remember we're alive. In "The Fire" Savoir Adore's forest fantasy pop blends with French Horn Rebellion's hot dancefloor beats. The two bands, related by marriage for the last few years, have finally collaborated to keep you warm all season long. Make like David of FHR and Deidre of Savoir Adore and cuddle up under the disco ball, dancing the night away.

Earlier, the brother duo, who turn their live show into a full band ensemble, revealed  their video for "Caaalifornia" via VEVO HERE. Robert and David run around San Francisco as 12-inch little guys as they search for the most beautiful Caaalifornian they had ever seen, Bebe Panthere.

French Horn Rebellion are Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, two brothers born and bred in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. In 2007, younger brother Robert was playing French horn in the Chicago Civic Orchestra, and decided to make hot beats instead. After telling the conductor that Mahler isn’t fun anymore he asked his bassoon-toting brother, David to join with him. And so it was, a French Horn Rebellion began.

Since then, they boys have travelled 5 continents with French horn slung over their back, doing shows with MGMT, Yelle, Cut Copy, and others along the way. Also, they've pioneered a new genre called 'Next Jack Swing,' like New Jack, but with heavy beats and funkier bass lines. Their latest EPs, Poster Girl (with Database), Girls (ft JD Samson and Fat Tony) and Love is Dangerous (ft J Pat from The Knocks), Dancing Out (ft Jody Watley), Friday Nights (with Viceroy) and Caaalifornia (ft Bebe Panthere and Ghost Beach) are out now.

French Horn Rebellion LIVE:
2/21 - Denver, CO @ Sightlow
3/3 - Chicago, IL @ Reggie's
3/6 - Brooklyn, NY @ Glasslands Gallery
3/9 - Allston, MA @ Great Scott (w/ New Young Pony Club)

Allison Schulnik: Eager (NYC) ( All Day )
ZieherSmith is pleased to present Allison Schulnik’s second solo exhibition at the gallery featuring the world premiere of her fourth animated film since 2000, Eager, along with related paintings, sculpture, and works on paper. Drawing from sources both autobiographical and inspirational, Eager is a poignant journey set between a timeless void and supernatural abundance; it is a celebration of the moving painting. An experiment in animation as dance (the artist was trained as a dancer), its subjects are choreographed in abstract, emotive gestures. The line is blurred between the material elements of painting (texture, color, form) and the physicality and movement of ballet and theater. At over 8 minutes, the film is her longest to date.
