| Would You Trade Your Smarts for Bigger Breasts or a Smaller Waist? | N/A | I think what's important about these comments is the idea that not only is the judgment of women a problem with the media, it is a problem among women. We are taught that to relate to each other in a catty way is the norm, that supporting each other somehow makes us weaker or less competitive. When we ourselves can stop assuming that someone who looks a certain way fulfills a certain stereotype (as many of us have done already) then we can rally and demand a different picture painted from the media. I agree, Teen Reader, you can be smart AND beautiful. Thanks for the comments! |
