It feels right…it feels right…Oh!
This morning I awoke to see that NPR had posted the full stream of Haim’s new album, “Days Are Gone.” The girl group has deservedly been getting a lot of press lately. "Days Are Gone" sounds like a glorious blend of my favorite girl groups. The album includes singles that have been securing them spots at Glastonbury, but other tracks also offer something different. "Days are Gone" has some of the most innovative genre bending I have heard in a few years. Some songs sound like a female Fleetwood Mac mixed with Lionel Richie; others feel like Wilson Phillip’s cool daughters started a band.
“The Wire” is one of the band's top selling tracks, and it's still probably my favorite. It’s funky guitar line ends up being a hook all on it’s own. The background vocals on “The Wire” make the song feel like multiple stories are happening simultaneously. All the songs on the album have a confessional aspect that everyone can relate to. “Days are Gone” uses electronic production to enhance music already brilliant music.
"Days are Gone" comes out September 30th.
