"Her show's called prodigy of color and it's selling out fast. ...Art critics have compared Aelita's work to Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollack." (Sydney Morning Herald)
The New York Post notes, an Italian collector bought three paintings -- including one called "Asteroid" -- for a total of $27,000. Her most expensive work was one sold in Hong Kong for $24,000.
Gallery director Angela Di Belo offers a critique of Aelita's work -- as seen in the Telegraph.
"She understands color. Composition. Texture. If you look at her paintings you'll see that they're balanced also. ...It's one painting after another. She's very consistent. She's already developed a style that is hers."
Lest you think this is the result of overbearing parents -- themselves artists -- they insist they're not pushing Aleita to paint.
In fact -- quite the opposite.
They say, they're trying to stay out of the way.
(dad) "I'm looking at it from the opposite side, saying, 'let's see what she does.' I'm just so curious to see what somebody in that position produces."
(mom) "I'm really scared that she will develop, 'I can't use this color or that color because it doesn't go." (BBC)
So, is all this pub going to the pint-sized painter's head?
An ABC news reporter tried to get Aleita to stand still long enough -- to answer that question.
(Reporter) "While her paintings are now selling for big bucks, the business of art to this four year old is just fun and games. You gotta show me your favorite painting. Show me where your favorite painting is."
(Dad)"To her it's just a whole lot of fun."
Why not?
