Austin-based duo and BUST favorite Agent Ribbons is back with a video for "Jamaica and the Wishing Shrine," a melancholy cut from their awesome EP Let Them Talk (released earlier this fall on Antenna Farm). Directed and shot by Jason Hood, the clip finds the band exploring an abandoned Coney Island, chasing seagulls through the streets, and writing messages in the sand. With its sun-streaked beach and carefree vibes, "Jamaica" is a ...

CMJ Music Marathon kicks off in New York today, which means that from now until the wee hours of Saturday night (or Sunday morning, if you're doing it right), seemingly every band ever will be playing shows at over 80 venues across the city. (Check out the official CMJ 2012 schedule if you want to get excited and overwhelmed on a Jessie Spano-esque level.) We're hoping to catch some incredible lineups over the next few days and ...

Jumping seamlessly from style to style and interweaving elements from garage rock, ’60s girl groups, and cabaret, the music of Austin-based duo Agent Ribbons is hard to classify. On Let Them Talk, the band takes a lighter turn than on its past two full-lengths and embraces the whimsical side of its twisted-fairytale style. Opener “Family Haircut” begins with ethereal “oohs” sung over ominous drums, but soon ...

Beautiful, eerie, and a little sultry, Agent Ribbons' video for "That's Not Edgar's Heart" is absolutely mesmerizing. Dressed in vintage party dresses and fascinators, these ladies have created unforgettable imagery for this moody song. With lyrics like "my voice will turn the smoke and tell you I love you while you sleep" it's impossible not to fall in love. Watch for yourselves:

There was a time in which I was totally oblivious to how popular a band was. Usually my naivety went along the lines of: “This band is awesome, everyone must love them!” Now I know that's not quite the case and, whenever I can, I try and spread the word of awesome, small time or local bands I’ve fallen in love with.
At last year’s SXSW, favorite bands I’d never heard of included Best Coast and Hunx and His ...
