Founding Blondie member Chris Stein is releasing vintage photos of the band online starting this week. Some of the pictures are from the beginning era of the iconic rock band’s career, some were taken on tour, and some are of them chillin’ with friends like Andy Warhol and Joan Jett. When asked about the shots, Stein reflected, “There was a lot of cool stuff happening in the late 70s and I was lucky enough to be in the ...

What’s up with the secrecy, B? According to Newsday, Beyonce dropped her new song “Bow Down/I Been On” without any pre-release press or even a friendly head’s up. Which actually seems to fit as this new release is anything but “friendly.”
We’ve got hardcore mixing, lots of cursing, rap, and some crazy synth-sound manipulation, coupled with lyrics like, “I know when you were little girls you ...

This past weekend I was lucky enough to cover the BUKU Music + Art Project at New Orleans' own Mardi Gras World. Located between an overgrown railroad line and an abandoned power plant right on the Mississippi river, this young festival (only it's second year) was a huge success. The majority of BUKU had an electronic dance music theme, with nearly 12,000 fans in attendance to see headliners such as Major Lazer, Flux Pavilion, Calvin ...

Awkwafina is back with a new video released today for “NYC B*tche$,” trashing everything from hipsters, bros, and douchebags, to Jay-Z’s stadium and bitches from Bushwick.
Still hot from her earlier video “My Vag,” which BUST covered back in October, Awkwafina is taking the city by storm – literally. Her new video has her hopping all over NYC taking her lyrics and her badass attitude with ...

Feminist icon and punk legend Kathleen Hanna is one of my many heroes. Defiant activist, outspoken pro-choicer, amazing songwriter, skilled musician, and prolific zine author, my friends and all kind of wish we were her. Her ground-breaking riot grrrl band Bikini Kill changed punk forever but Hanna wasn’t going to stop there. After Bikini Kill broke up in 1997, she went on to start electronic-dance-punk band Le Tigre, which is now ...

Just a couple of weeks ago I was wondering where the hell Norwegian pop princess Annie went off to, and the gods appear to have heard me. Lo and behold, her new single "Tubestops and Lonely Hearts" is supposed to come out this month.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this goddess, Annie has released two albums that contain some of this century's best dance music. One guy called her "the Kylie it's cool to like," but if you're too ...

Miami rapper and hip-hop songstress Kat Dahlia released the music video for “Gangsta” last week and I can’t get it out of my head. Dahlia’s rough-around-the-edges vocals and brutal lyrics make for a gloomy centerpiece to a sunshiny backdrop of a video. The track is about her independence from a toxic relationship, but certain lines are woven in to create an even more serious story. The piano riff is beautiful as ...

Xelle, “The girl group with something extra” is at it again. The pop trio has officially released the video of their newest song, Hologram. Is it a music video? Is it a video game? It’s a little bit of both! Directed by Zach Adam, Hologram is a “choose your own adventure” music video with guest appearances from Janeane Garofalo, Kevin Allison, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Michael Musto, and ...

Itching for some nostalgia drenched lyrics and sun bleached tunes? Luckily, America’s favorite manic pixie dream girl Zooey Deschanel and guitarist M. Ward have made another album as She & Him. Volume 3, which will be released on May 7th, is sure to feature the vintage pop style that She & Him do best, layering Deschanel’s sweet vocals over Ward’s masterful melodies. The album’s first single dropped today on ...
