It turns out that Portlandia star Fred Armisen has an excellent Ira Glass impression in his arsenal of celebrity impersonations. Armisen delivered his best Ira Glass act on Glass's own NPR show, This American Life. The impression is also featured in a web exclusive out from NBC. Armisen's portrayal of Glass was scripted into a "Weekend Update" segment on SNL, but nixed after the audience didn't find it funny enough. Be sure to ...

You should watch this hilarious promo for actress/director/producer Penny Marshall’s new (and very real) memoir, My Mother Was Nuts--but don't blame us if you break a rib laughing.
Fred Armisen dresses in drag to play the amazing Ms. Marshall (who we interview in the upcoming issue of BUST!).
This isn’t the first time Fred and Penny have teamed up to make us giggle. Marshall guest-starred in the second season ...

Put an Oscar-nominated actress on it! Super-talented style icon, actress, and former BUST cover girl Chloë Sevigny is set to guest star on Portlandia's upcoming season. She’ll be playing Fred and Carrie’s roommate, and though we don’t know any further details about the role, it'll no doubt be hilarious. Maybe as a high-fashion hippie with a penchant for composting and a love of rigid recycling policies? Sevigny ...

If you’re lucky enough to live in the fabulous city of Portland, you could experience a perk other than having an adult-sleep away camp in the works for your fair city. The hit IFC show Portlandia is looking for season three extras. Call your oldest relative, because they’re looking for “everybody and their grandma” according to the call sheet. Portland’s bustling “hiking trails, backyard sustainable ...

We love Portlandia, so we were tickled by the new Entertainment Weekly-exclusive short Portlandia: Deam of the 1890s. I wonder how they get through their takes, 'cause I can't hold back the laugh-tears. I especially love Fred Armisen's faux-bearded face in this one, and Carrie is as hilarious as ever. This could easily apply to Brooklyn, too. Go ahead, watch:
It's as if President McKinley never got ...

Last night, the BUST staffers had a Ladies Night Out at the premiere party for Portlandia’s season 2. We have huge TV crushes on the IFC hit, and the second season way exceeded our expectations. The two new eps we watched at the party were packed with delightfully insane jokes, new characters (FYI, “We can pickle that!” is the new “Put a bird on it!”), and old pals like the aggressive bike messenger and feminist-bookstore owners. ...

Fred Armisen of SNL (and virtually every indie comedy film or TV show of the last 10 years) will be doing NYC in-store appearances on December 4th and 5th to promote the release of Portlandia: Season One on DVD and Blu-Ray. The stellar IFC comedy series, which stars Fred and Sleater Kinney's Carrie Brownstein, will be out in stores on December 6.
We're obsessed with Portlandia (which lovingly skewers Portland, Oregon) and its recurring ...

On IFC's Portlandia, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein lock Steve Buscemi in a feminist bookstore after forcing him to make a purchase for using the customers-only bathroom. Picking up something embroidered with a rotary phone, he says, "I'll take this wristband." "That's not a wristband, that's a coffee cozy," they reply in earnest.
From dumpster diving to ear-plugged bike messengers to the Sherlock Homies, a hipster adult hide 'n seek ...

I always try to run to the blog bubble here as fast as possible when I discover something cool, in hopes of beating the other ladies to the punch. And it looks like I won! I was just sitting on my bed eating a piece of chicken while wrapped in a blanket, and I came across this new St. Vincent video. This particular video is for the song "Laughing With a Mouth of Blood," and was made by the best comedy duo to ever walk the face of the ...
