Hello Lovers

BY Web Intern in General |

I am from Austin. I miss it a lot. This weekend I get a taste of home. The amazing Hello Lovers perform with a small orchestra in syncopation and moving images on four screens by Lydia Greer. Goes down in Brooklyn at Monkeytown on October 23rd, 24th and 25th. Hello Lovers is different from any band I've ever heard. And, like I said, I am from Austin...so that is saying something. The musicians range from classically trained pasts in fancy conservatories, to ... Read More

VEGAN JACKETS + DOLLHOUSE

BY Web Intern in General |

Everyone should enter the ROCK THE JACKET contest from one of our coolest advertisers, Dollhouse. It is so easy. Friend them on Facebook, take a photo of yourself in your Dollhouse jacket, and show them how to wear it. A leather jacket goes with everything. A sweet, summer dress? Hells yeah. Badass jeans. Duh. Every girl needs at least one leather jacket. If you live in New York, you might need three. BUT, if you're an animal rights activist, ... Read More

Hot Mamas

Current internet fads can be lumped into a handful of categories: 1) awkward people with terrible taste 2) awkward animals with terrible grammar 3) gorgeous nobodies with awesome taste 4) depressing life confessions (aka: things you regret but not nearly as much as you should regret posting them to the internet) 5) Kanye 6) food Inane? Maybe. But the internet has no morals. The internet will not scold you for spending 3 hours LOLing at cats in clothes. ... Read More
The Raveonettes are one of those bands I've been listening to on and off since high school -- I was always kind of into them, but never jazzed enough to sing their praises on the Internet. Cut to their concert Sunday night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. I take it all back, Raveonettes. Why didn't I realize how awesome you were before? The Black Angels got things off to a trippy start with their heavily distorted psychedelic tunes. And they were LOUD -- I'm ... Read More

Palin On Oprah? Oh Boy!

BY Web Intern in General |

Apparently, Oprah received some flak for not having Sarah Palin on her show during the presidential election. Oprah states that Palin's team never asked for her to be on the show and besides, why should they have? They probably knew like the rest of us that lady O was a huge Obama supporter from the start. Anyhoo, Oprah will feature Ms. Palin on Nov. 16th, the day before Going Rogue: An American Life, lands in bookstores. If you're like me, you could care less ... Read More

I Must See This!

I'm a Roald Dahl fan and I must admit, I have never read Fantastic Mr. Fox. Turns out the Wes Anderson movie-adaptation will hit theaters Nov. 25th and from the looks of the preview, I'm incredibly excited and eagerly awaiting its release. If you're unfamiliar with the story, Mr. Fox tries to keep one step ahead of three nitwit farmers Boggis, Bunce, and Bean who are trying to dig him out of his home! Cute shenanigans follow as Fox and the gang try to keep ... Read More
