Rock On Reena!

Posted by: intern Amber in General |

Okay so I have to tell you about a wonderful friend of mine, Reena Shah . I am always so inspired by this powerful artist with a knockout smile and spirit. I don't know if Reena knows this, but she is breaking boundaries. Minority actresses the world over have a hard time being embraced by the Anglo-obsessed film and entertainment industry, but Reena has managed to be a successful actress/singer/dancer all while embracing her ... Grunge, the photos

Posted by: Laurie in General |

My main squeeze, photographer Michael Lavine, has a new photography book out titled Grunge. The foreward is written by Thurston Moore, and the book contains stunning photos of street kids in Seattle in the late 80's, as well as lots of seminal bands from the early 90's. About six months ago, LF co-founder Terry McBride ... Read More

Posted by: Laurie in General |

Our friend Michael sent this over, and it is precisely why I love YouTube so much. Not only do we get to peruse our favorite year in fashion, 1968, but I now have a new musical obsession: the way out sounds of one Mr. Mort Garson, an electronic composer. ... Read More

These past few weeks have presented two different kinds of swarms: ladybugs, (there is literally one stuck in my hair as I type this,) and skinny attractive people carrying instrument cases who are here touring as part of the CMJ Music Marathon. It’s hard to choose which bands to leave the house for, but a few have such a loud buzz surrounding them that you feel compelled to go sniff them out for yourself. One of those ... Read More
