At my place it's important to play Christmas music at all times to remind me to get in that holiday spirit! This year, The Raveonettes have dropped a dreamy Xmas ditty--appropriately titled "The Christmas Song"--to sum up everyone's mood about the "most wonderful time of the year." All I need now is a warm blanket and some hot chocolate...

Move over Nicki Minaj, because there’s another Nikki on the scene--Nikki Lynette. The latter's song, “Shut The F*ck Up Boy,” might have the best chorus ever, and is currently being played on repeat here at the BUST HQ.
Lynette’s got serious mc chops, a slight Left Eye vibe, and a dash of afro-punk style. We think she's a pure original, and a must-watch.
Check the video out below and then go download her new mixtape, Roses ... Read More
Even a casual hip-hop fan can quote lyrics from Missy Elliott, TLC, and Salt-N-Pepa, but SHEmovement aims to celebrate not just the heavy-hitters, but less well-known lady mc's like Psalm One, Red Shaydez, Hot Yella, Miz Korona, and Lady Loe.
The website features hip-hop-centric news and profiles of female rappers, as well as photos, videos, and blogs that the artists themselves update. The musicians on the site produce blends of hip-hop as diverse as they ... Read More
Singer and guitarist Zoe Boekbinder describes her personal style as "geek glam," but her music's been praised as old-school folk-y pop. A theater nerd in high school, she took up singing after her friends goaded her on. After school, Boekbinder and her sister formed a band called Vermillion Lies--an outfit that produced albums in 2006 and 2008. After the release of their second album, the two went their separate ways musically, but never stopped recording ... Read More
Korallreven doesn’t sound like anybody else, but if I had to try, I'd say they're like a lover’s caress on a sunny afternoon with just a little bit of Enya and a touch of Ace of Base. On their full-length debut An Album by Korallreven (out now on Acéphale), the Swedish duo’s unique sound incorporates ominous undertones with optimistic, uplifting soundscapes of epic proportions. Lead vocals are steady and robotic, flanked by choir-like ... Read More

Damien Jurado and Richard Swift have a very special working relationship. The two aren’t only collaborators; they’re apparently one another’s spirit animals. On Jurado’s new song “Nothing is the News” you can hear the duo’s outsider tendencies. The guitar wails as Jurado sings in a trippy fog forming his own reverbed choir. The song’s psychedelic feel sort of makes you want to start swaying, preferably in an open ... Read More
If you haven't heard of Alexa Wilding yet, you will soon. The New York-based singer-songwriter (who shares a stage name with the muse of Italian painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti) was called "one of music's hippest chicks" by NY Post, released a critically-acclaimed self-titled EP in 2009, toured with Au Revoir Simone, and will debut her own dreamy full-length album soon. Photographer Bek Andersen visited Alexa Wilding at her home, which, it turns out, is ... Read More
If “Time Travel,” one of the more delightfully sinister tracks on Blouse's self-titled debut, is to be believed, the band has the ability to fluidly travel between present, past, and future. The album (out now on Captured Tracks), which sounds nostalgic and fresh all at once, confirms this assertion. Charlie Hilton’s lead vocals hover somewhere between Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier and Beach House’s Victoria Legrand, while the melodies ... Read More
Despite the title, Brite Futures’ new album Dark Past (out now on Turnout) is anything but gloomy. The Seattle-based band (formerly known as Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head) split from Warner Bros. and have since moved on to indie label Turnout, a move that underlies some songs on the new record. The quintet of Claire England, Shaun Libman, Luke Smith, David Price, and Conor Sisk may have a new name, but they can still bring us an album full of ... Read More

I have a friend who keeps telling me that cats invented the Internet and I’m starting to believe him. Every blog or tumblr worth checking out always has something to do with cats. Case in point, Lolcats, the site that just lets you look at cats doing hilarious, adorable things all day long. But maybe you want something more specific. Maybe you want to see cats that look like pirates or maybe Hitler or Parks And Recreation’s Ron Swanson. It’s all ... Read More
