According to The Cut, A.F. Vandevorst’s fashion show in Paris today didn’t feature any black models, which is unfortunately fairly common. But what struck audience members as particularly odd about the show was that a bunch of these white models had black paint coating their arms and legs. “The Light That Shines” is a documentary about Jill, a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer just after her wedding. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation, five surgeries, and a double mastectomy. She later lost an implant due to an infection and no longer wears a prosthetic breast to replace it. She has now been diagnosed with incurable stage 4 bone cancer. After spending a year and a half of my life roaming the streets of Paris, I take any opportunity to obsess over French things. I miss the food and the tangible history. Who knew I would even miss the secondhand smoke?

Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed is making history by opening Europe’s first feminist and gay-friendly mosque. This mosque, situated east of Paris, welcomes the LGBTQ community and encourages women to lead prayer. So-called “inclusive” mosques exist in the U.S., Canada, and South Africa; but this is a first for the European continent.
