What were you doing in the summer of your sixteenth year? Going swimming at your local pool? Serving up swirlies at the local ice cream shop? Chillin' at the mall? Publishing your first book of collected pieces from your highly successful online magazine?
If you didn't answer 'yes' to that last question, that's probably because you aren't Tavi Gevinson, the 16-year-old fashion blogger who started her online magazine Rookie at age fifteen. (And who's on the cover of ... Read More
I've thrown tons of Fashion Week street style your way, but I thought I'd come out from behind the lens and show you some of the looks I put together from that week. I'm all about fun when it comes to fashion. From pillbox hats to kitty-cat shoes, I'm not afraid to look a little kooky now and then. I also took comfort into consideration, and wore flats amid a sea of high heels. With some pep in my step and bright tights to spare, I'd say many of my looks are ... Read More

One of my favorite Fashion Week events had to be Lulu's Style Studio, where bloggers from all over gathered to mingle, shop, and eat cupcakes in style. It was an ultra-stylish party, and I was able to snap shots of some of my favorite looks as everyone walked ... Read More
Tavi Gevinson, founder of Rookie, recently sat down with founder and editor-in-chief of Lula magazine, Leith Clark, for Nowness.com to discuss a little bit of everything from fashion and magazines to feminism and Miranda July. Nowness.com cuts off quite a bit of the hour and a half conversation between these two fascinating ladies, but Tavi posted the rest of the conversational interview on StyleRookie.com. I'm really glad she posted the interview ... Read More
Laurie covered the event in this previous entry of the Advanced Style party hosted by Ari Seth Cohen and Style Rookie's Tavi Gevinson, but I thought I might share some of the amazing street style I was able to cover while we were there. It was pretty fantastic how people of all ages came together to celebrate style..in style! Everyone there looked fantastic dressed to the nines and it was one Fashion Week event I wont be forgetting any time soon.

I heard that this collaboration was not happening through some random internet source that no one backed up a while back and I assumed was just a rumor, but now it is a rumor no more. Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie and Jane Pratt of XoJane.com once talked of creating a Sassy-like website and magazine for teens headed by Miss Gevinson. When XoJane.com launched, readers were confused that Tavi was nearly no where to be found, but hype was still building for some kind ... Read More

Sassy Magazine, arguably the best teen magazine of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s and a great source of inspiration for BUST, was paid tribute this week by The Talent Show Brand Variety Show, hosted at Littlefield in Brooklyn. The event sold out with lighting speed, but we were lucky enough to get in.
Hilarious hosts Elna Baker and Kevin Townley threw pinches of ... Read More
Style Yourself is a book full of fashion bloggers, such as Sea of Shoes’ Jane Aldridge, who writes the foreword, Style Rookie’s Tavi Gevinson, Style Bubble’s Susie Lau, The Glamourai’s Kelly Framel, and Keiko Groves of Keiko Lynn, among many other awesome bloggers. The book aims to be a guide to personal style with advice from many of the bloggers. While I enjoy having a tangible book to draw inspiration from and love the fabulous blogger ... Read More
Blogger, Marlena, 17, is among the the fabulous teenage bloggers popping up over the past few years. With a shout out from the most well known of the bunch, Tavi of Style Rookie, Marlena's blog, Self Constructed Freak has been growing in popularity. Some of Tavi's recent posts actually seem to be taking some fashion cues from Self Constructed Freak. Marlena's mix of 80's punk and gothic, twee infusions makes her one of the most interesting ... Tavi of Style Rookie’s newest post might come as a shock to some as she questions her passion for fashion, but surprisingly, I think it’ll make a lot of fashion lovers identify with her. Well maybe not in a “Can I have a normal conversation with Anna Wintour while wearing a Feminist sweater given to me by Kathleen Hanna?” kind of way, but in a growing up and finding that hardcore passion for something can come and go or wane in intensity. ...
