In his recent article regarding on-campus rape, George Will cited one Swarthmore student’s story of being assaulted:
She and her assaulter had “now decided — mutually, she thought — just to be friends. When he ended up falling asleep on her bed, she changed into pajamas and climbed in next to him. Soon, he was putting his arm around her and taking off her clothes. ‘I basically said, “No, I don’t want to have sex ... Read More

This past Thursday, a federal complaint was filed against Brown University, accusing the school of violating the law by failing to expel a student found guilty of raping fellow classmate, Lena Sclove. After coming forward about the school's mishandling of her case last month, Lena's courageous battle for justice and increased awareness sparked the kind of national attention these issues deserve. In light of this anti-violence awareness, Brown University-based ... Peer pressure is used to excellent effect in the Scottish Police Department's new anti-rape campaign — a particularly notable effort in the quest to end sexual violence because it shifts a crime's blame fully on to the perpetrator. This is contra to some of the more disturbing ad campaigns anti-rape advocates have employed in recent years, like this gem from the Pennsylvania Liquor Board in 2011:

CNN reported today that a bill aiming to drastically reduce sexual assault in the military was shot down in the Senate by a vote of 55 to 45. This represents yet another sad defeat for the oft-silenced voices of assault and rape victims in the armed forces. According to testimony by one of the bill's sponsors, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), assault numbers have continued to climb in the past few years: between 2011 and 2012, incidents of unwanted ... Trigger warning: contains link to graphic video on sexual assault.
A new parody video has been making the rounds on the global interwebs this past week: "It's Your Fault" is an extremely sarcastic response to the culture of victim-blaming and patriarchy that colors people's reactions to sexual assault.

After spending a year at New Jersey’s most notorious party school and watching just about every episode of Gossip Girl, date rape drugs are a very real fear to me. No, I’m not trying to sound glib; it doesn’t matter if I’m having a beer with a female friend and Harvest Moon Brewery happens to be empty because, you know, it’s 11 am on a Tuesday. I am guarding that lipstick-stained glass like a hawk.
Enter Michael Abramson, a Boston ... Read More

Trigger warning: Triggering language and discussion of rape to follow.
Last week I read news of another rape scandal hitting a big university. This time, however, it hit a little closer to home. My alma mater, The University of Colorado at Boulder, has come up in the news again. This time it isn't about weed on campus or Pac-12 football...This time it is about Title IX violation and covering up the culture of rape on the American College Campus.I know that my ... Read More

Want to keep rape fantasies off the radio? Don't tell Tyler, the Creator, unless you're ready to be called a "fucking whore dyke."
That's the message he's broadcasting to the world lately. After an Australian woman named Talitha Stone criticized the rapper for rhyming about his hateful, necrophilia-inspired rape fantasies, Tyler and a slew of his fans verbally attacked and threatened her.
Tyler then called her out during an (all-ages!) performance saying, ... Read More
