Pictured: the face I'm making right now.
Guys, we need to talk about this episode. Real talk. Help me work this through, because whoa, Nelly, am I having trouble doing it on my own.
Shoshanna confesses her misdeeds to Ray. Kinda.
“I held hands with a doorman!” she exclaims. SURE, Shosh. We’ve all held hands with a doorman, ifyaknowwhaddamean. Ray thinks it’s cute and kisses her patronizingly on the forehead. Shoshanna is still filled with ... Read More

It’s hot in the city. Tempers are flaring, milk is spoiling, and deadlines are approaching—and it appears that everything’s about to come to a head.
Shosh, Ray, and Marnie discuss Jessa’s disappearance. Nobody seems to be all that worried, which is convenient, because neither am I. Marnie is wearing stupid-looking pigtails. It’s not a good look—but then again, neither is stalking mournfully off into the sunset when Shoshanna ... Read More

Hannah and Jessa take a break from their exhausting lives as Professional Semi-Depressed and/or Painfully Writer’s-Blocked Persons to go frolic in the woods upstate. Specifically, they’re going to visit Jessa’s estranged father, because what we all need right now is more forced drama in Jessa Land.
Père Jessa, a paranoid, addict-y mess, eventually appears and hauls them back to the family abode. Ka-POW! Suddenly we’ve apparated into ... Read More

Fresh off her completely and totally unrealistic tryst with Patrick Wilson*, Hannah lands a book deal! It’s an e-book, which is whatever, but the deal is brokered by John Cameron Mitchell and she publicly vomits afterward. Can’t keep a good woman down.
We then swoop into Capri-Panted Ewok’s Den of Iniquity, where he and Marnie are acting very, very couple-y—but not emotionally stirring, Hannah-and-Adam-in-better-times couple-y, just ... Read More

Perhaps the most remarkable part of this week’s episode of Girls was the insane backlash that it immediately sparked on the internet. The credits hadn’t even begun to roll when trolls came out of the digital woodwork to hate on the fact that Lena Dunham’s character Hannah managed to bag herself a mega-hottie like Patrick Wilson’s Joshua.
Commenters were outraged by Dunham's audacity, crying that someone as attractive as Patrick Wilson ... Read More

Patrick Wilson as Joshua
In a recent interview, Lena Dunham stated that Girls is never going to glorify commodified sex: that is, putting the characters in situations where they sleep with someone for status or money or because they have a nice apartment. This is admirable, of course—but so far, this season has been all about status-driven (and usually, super unsatisfying) sex: Jessa and Thomas-John, Elijah and George, and most recently, Marnie ... Last month brought us this hilarious Craigslist ad, which appeared to be casting a brand new reality TV show based on HBO’s hit Girls. The ad called for applications from any young woman “seeking fame, fortune, love or even a hookup with potential.” Now The Cut reports that the first girl has been cast, and she’s no stranger to fame (well, of the Lifetime variety). It’s Hailey Glassman, Jon Gosselin’s ex-girlfriend and star of CMT’s Sweet Home ... Read More

Let’s hop on board the recap train, shall we? As with all things, spoilers abound, so tread carefully if you haven’t yet watched.
The episode kicks off with a throwaway exchange between our two favorite self-centered roommates—possibly the least specific category in all of Girls—as Elijah prepares to move out. It’s queeny and funny and honestly, who cares. Let’s move on, shall we?
We haven’t heard a whole lot from Jessa so far this season, minus ... Read More

As if writing and acting in Girls, taking on haters, and making bold pants-less fashion statements wasn’t enough, Lena Dunham is working on a whole new show. Dunham and Girls showrunner Jenni Konner are working with HBO on a new comedy based on the forthcoming memoir of Betty Halbreich, a Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper and generally badass old lady. Halbreich’s memoir, All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go, will likely cover the 36 years she has spent ... Read More

Now that our tears have dried after the news of the Girls breakup, we can all welcome Christopher Owens’ solo act to our ears with love. Lysandre is a concept album with a stranger sound than that of Girls’ beloved Album and Father, Son, Holy Ghost. The 11-track LP seems even more personal, but think less of that lo-fi sound and more experimental folk. Owens is currently promoting Lysandre with a long list of international tour dates, one of which I ... Read More
