Thank you to everyone who joined BUST in blowing out the birthday candles with us at our 15-Year Anniversary Party! I can't explain the venue, Spiegelworld, as anything but breath-taking. With a full180 degree view of Manhattan and Brooklyn, the waterfront setting that was complete with hammocks, cabanas, an outdoor dance floor, and 3 circus tents (!!!) was absolutely unbelievable.JD Samson (MEN/Le Tigre) got things started right on the turntables. As ... Read More

Banging on some drums is just what happened at this year's 88 BoaDrum, which was last Friday (8/8/08) and featured 88 dummers playing an 88-minute-long song! Whew!
This jam happened last year in Brooklyn (on 7/7/07) and was led by Japanese noise rockers the Boredoms (thus, the name Boadrums?). This year, the Boredoms handed off maestro duty to Brooklyn art-rock gurus, Gang Gang Dance. People gathered at ... Read More

Harassment on the street and in the subways is nothing to joke about or shrug off, and NYC’s MTA system is finally taking notice. After initially pulling anti-harassment ads off of the subway a month ago thinking it would encourage harassment (what?!?), they have agreed to put the ads back into the subway cars. With the help from RightRides, Girls for Gender Equity, NOW-NYC and other organizations a subway safety committee is also being created! Emily ... Read More

The gossip around here today is 1. why is Quentin Tarantino remaking "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill?" Thats like remaking Citizen Kane! And to make matters worse, (2) he's casting Britney Spears as Varla? WTF? Cmon, I know its hard to find actresses in Hollywood who actually have tits and ladylike curves, but puhleese. Russ Meyer is probably rolling over in his porn filled grave as we speak. Emily would cast Chynna Doll, but I don't know, she looks like a ... Read More
