For most of us, our first job after college involves trying to keep up with people older and more seasoned than we are, adjusting to paying bills, and stumbling into adulthood. That’s pretty much been the experience of 23-year-old comic actress Jessica Williams. But as the newest, youngest, and ... Read More

In the wake of recent uproar over the ridiculousness of sexy women’s Halloween costumes, hilariously awesome comedian Kristen Schaal made an appearance as The Daily Show's Senior Women's Issues Correspondent to discuss the new trend, but more importantly, to unveil her own line of super sexy Halloween costumes—one for men and one for women. While the costume for guys is certainly a winner, (“Sexy Hollywood Producer Who Hires ... Read More

Everyone has been talking about 16-year-old Malala Yousafzai and her outspoken advocacy of women and education (we certainly have been). Tuesday night, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize nominee went on television to speak on one of America’s greatest and prestigious stages—that’s right, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. And so commenced the first time I’ve wept while watching Comedy Central (aside from whenever I watch 50 First Dates).

Who you gonna call? Filibuster! Or Kristen Schaal, because this woman is a filibustering machine.
Last night's Daily Show had Kristen satirically riffing the most prominent women in Texas this week - Wendy Davis and Jodie Laubenberg. Schaal didn’t equate Laubenberg to Davis, but proclaimed that Laubenberg was hands down more impressive! Say what?
Equipped with her hot pink Mizuno Wave Riders, a portable bathroom, and a chest ... Read More

Watching The Daily Show has become a nonnegotiable part of my morning ritual. I roll out of bed, get the coffee brewing, appease my cats with some Fancy Feast, and turn to Jon Stewart for my daily reality check. This morning was no exception.
As I was watching, happily chowing down on some oatmeal, my gag reflex was suddenly tripped as a white-haired old gentlemen appeared on the screen beside Samantha Bee. It was Kingsley Browne! The ridiculously-named ... Read More

Yesterday, the Senate narrowly avoided another political attack on women's health when they voted 51 to 48 against the Blunt Amendment. Even though Republicans tried to assure everyone that this bill wasn't actually contributing to their war on women, (just their war on citizens who believe in the separation between church and state), it would have allowed employers to refuse to cover any health care service for their employees, and only have to cite "moral ... I can't report as to the mood on the ground, but from the view from my television on Saturday, the National Mall looked packed with rationality at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. Musical guests ranging from The Roots to Tony Bennett performed, and appearances were made by the MythBusters, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and even R2D2. It was clear that, while the Rally didn't necessarily have one definitive political statement-and that ... Read More

I feel like I’ve spent a lot of time in the last six months talking about the Tea Party. It’s involved a lot of “wait, they did what now? And they didn’t think it was offensive?” and “man, I just really hate those guys.” But now, finally, there is something of a counter: The Daily Show’s “Rally to Restore Sanity.” Doesn’t the name just give you the warm-and-fuzzies?

My favorite thing about hearing Samantha Bee do a not-reading in Bryant Park was when somebody asked her what it was like to be a female correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. God bless her pregnant self, she said it was hard. Just like being a man on the show. And I got it on tape. Less than two weeks later Jezebel comes out with a tell-all rant from some disgruntled former employees about what a horrid place the show is for ladies. I was gonna respond ... Read More
