Seventh grade isn't a great time for anyone, but it was my worst year in school. Why? Because I was constantly bullied and sexually harassed by some boys in school. I never talked to anyone about it (because it seemed to be par for the course), but those experiences affected how I felt about myself for years to come.

A trip to the movie theater usually stresses me out, and it's not just the $12 popcorn that does it. I am notoriously that movie-goer who easily gets offended by the portrayal of women onscreen. There have been some standouts lately--films like Bridesmaids and Pariah that have made me optimistic about what can be done if female writers and directors are given a voice. Last week we broke the news that there may be a Bridesmaids sequel without Kristen Wiig. We're still trying to make sense of this--it's like some hellish nightmare where somebody's eaten all the marshmallows out of your super-adult breakfast cereal. But do not fret!
