I don’t even own a TV, so it’s not really difficult for me to avoid 16 and Pregnant. However, even if my apartment was filled wall-to-wall with televisions (which would be a pretty weird decorating choice, but whatever), I’d probably avoid the hit MTV reality show. Admittedly, I have seen a few episodes, but I always find the show pretty tragic. When I do watch TV, I prefer something a bit more lighthearted, ...

Thanks to the intrepid reporters over at New York Magazine, the truth to a long-held belief among many children of the 80's can finally be revealed. Toni Basil's "Mickey," the cheerleader-style video that was once a staple of MTV (back when it stood for "Music Television") does not contain references to being poked in the brown eye, despite the line "Come on and give it to me, any way you can. Any way you wanna do it, I'll take it like a ...

In case you guys missed the MTV movie awards (I did, there was a Law & Order marathon and then Girls was on, so I was all booked up), one very significant thing happened outside of a bunch of celebrities taking home a bunch more awards: The Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer happened.
Starring Emma Watson, Nina Dobrev, Mae Whitman, and the relatively unknown Logan Lerman as everyone's favorite antisocial protagonist Charlie, the ...

She has also done work with Rolling Stone, Nylon, Vice and The New York Times, including poignant portraits whose sales went to benefit victims of the Haitian earthquake.
MTV gave our girl ...

In fact, most people I know who watch reality TV, watch it almost sadistically, as they are enjoying the act of hating it. New Research from the Girl Scout Institute is proving that these popular TV shows may have more of an effect than we may think.
The study took middle school and high school aged girls and asked reality tv viewers and ...

After a nutty accident involving a bottle of Advil is misconstrued as a suicide attempt, Jenna ends up in a pretty brutal arm cast (see above picture) and an entire high school full of confused rumors. In MTV’s “AWKWARD.”, the typical cast of any high school TV show is present (the two sidekicks, doofy teachers, cheerleaders, confused parents, lame jocks), all dealing with the typical issues (virginity, popularity, ...

Emma Roberts, niece of Julia Roberts, and Dave Franco, brother of James Franco, both starred in MTV’s Supervideo. In an attempt to resurrect the music video, collaborators, MTV and Mean Magazine have created a Supervideo series using great directors, awesome music, big stars, and an artistic approach. Directed by Patrick Hoelck, this supervideo is a mini movie, rather than a music video, that plays over Cults’ “Go ...
