Trigger Warning: This post mentions sexual violence, reactions to sexual violence, and victim blaming.
Speaking of sexism and comics, this simple 3 panel webcomic tweeted today by @GirlhoodStudies is alllll kinds of genius. It juxtaposes the kinds of reactions people have to hearing about sexual harrassment and, in doing so, shows the viewer how friggin’ hard to is to talk about sexual violence in a meaningful way – as if we didn’t know that ... Trigger Warning: This post discusses sexual violence, victim-blaming.
Jennifer Stevens, a 10-year armed forces and battalion veteran, was absolutely outraged by this poster in the women’s restroom of the Wright-Patterson Ohio Air Force base. The poster, titled "Avoid Being a Victim," is a guideline for women to avoid/prevent sexual assault. Understandably, it SCREAMS victim-blaming.
The poster instructs soldiers to avoid sexual assault by paying ... Read More

Trigger warning: Triggering language and discussion of rape to follow.
Last week I read news of another rape scandal hitting a big university. This time, however, it hit a little closer to home. My alma mater, The University of Colorado at Boulder, has come up in the news again. This time it isn't about weed on campus or Pac-12 football...This time it is about Title IX violation and covering up the culture of rape on the American College Campus.I know that my ... Read More
“Just because you regret a one night stand, doesn’t mean it wasn’t consensual."
Wow. Go to hell.
These are the posters that have been popping up around the University of Alberta Campus in Edmonton. A bullshit mimicry of Battered Women's Support Services "Don't Be That Guy" project.
You may have seen the original brilliant campaign, which asserts that men should end their role in rape by not exploiting or taking advantage of someone ... Read More

It's no news that the military is still having trouble grasping the definition of sexual assault. If the Air Force's head of sexual assault prevention can't even get it right, is it even surprising that so many others are just as fucked up? And it's getting worse every year. Since 2010, sexual assaults in the military have skyrocketed from 19,000 to 26,000 today. This Air Force brochure about rape risk reduction is telling of how misguided whoever put this thing ... Guys, we need to talk about this episode. Real talk. Help me work this through, because whoa, Nelly, am I having trouble doing it on my own.
Shoshanna confesses her misdeeds to Ray. Kinda.
“I held hands with a doorman!” she exclaims. SURE, Shosh. We’ve all held hands with a doorman, ifyaknowwhaddamean. Ray thinks it’s cute and kisses her patronizingly on the forehead. Shoshanna is still filled with ... Read More
