It's already Passover! Can you believe it? This year I'm home in NYC instead of doing the whole seder thing with the fam in VA, so I thought I'd start my own little tradition by having my girl band over for a night of home style Jewish cooking and a spirited screening of The Ten Commandments . I already started my vegan matzoh ball soup last night with the help of Isa Chandra Moskowitz's genius recipe , which you can follow along with here:And every ... Read More

Another SX blog post!

BY Susan in Eat Me |

Whew, SXSW is kind of the most exhausting thing ever. I even lost my voice today. Not only is there so much to see and do and you always feel like you are missing something, but there's also a lot of stress and pressure to meet people and make moves. Yesterday was really intense, Sara and I headed up the BUST tables for two major events. One was at Bird's, which is basically the raddest barbershop ever, and featured some hip bands and was full of hip people, with ... Read More

Book Love: A Homemade Life

BY Lisa in Eat Me |

I think I've mentioned my epic love of food before. I love eating, but I also love cooking. In fact I love just looking at food, or talking about it, and especially reading about it. One of my favorite food bloggers, Molly Wizenberg of Orangette, has a new book out called A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes From My Kitchen Table. Read on for details... I'm only halfway through it but I can tell you it is awesome. It has the feeling of a memoir (Molly recounts ... Read More

The way the cookie crumbles

BY Dawn in Eat Me |

It's Girl Scout cookie season! This is the time of year when boxes of Thin Mints, Caramel Delights and Peanut Butter Patties begin to whimsically appear in offices, cupboards, and lunch bags across America. It's also a time of year when young girls learn to be entrepreneurs, selling cookies to raise money and prizes for their troop. GS cookies were seriously my first venture into the world of marketing and sales, (not to brag, but I was in the GS Cookie Hall of ... Read More
It's been feeling a bit like a TB ward over at BUST HQ lately, what with my never-ending cough, Callie's horrible ear infection, and assorted other bugs and germies making their way 'round the office. But last night I came across this video for how to make ginger tea, and I'm gonna make it as soon as I get home tonite. Plus, how adorable is this video? Su-Mei Yu is so warm and motherly, just watching her make ginger tea makes me feel comforted already!Want ... Read More

We're jamming, jamming...

BY Dawn in Eat Me |

In the slight chance you missed BUST's October/November issue, Lisa B. did a fantastic feature on canning that inspired me to do some canning and preserving of my own! This raspberry, fig and port wine jam was a huge hit at Christmas. Making it was so much easier than I thought it'd be and made great gifts. And although the holiday season is just about over, it's always a sweet idea to have some homemade jam on hand for fresh baked muffins and biscuits. If you ... Read More
Years ago when I lived in Paris, one of my favorite resto's was this weird Fondue place called  Le Refuge des Fondus in Montmarte. It's dingy and has long communal tables and the only thing on the menu is Fondue, and wine served in baby bottles! Classy. It's a real tourist trap, but loads of fun, and now there is one opening in NYC, right in my neighborhood! I do love cheese, so I'm super excited to try the copy cat Cave des Fondus, located at 20 Prince ... Read More
Now that the cold season is upon us, it's time that I share my very favorite cold-fighting remedy with y'all: the amazing super-easy magical garlic soup! My BFF told me about this at least 15 years ago, and I've been making it ever since whenever I come down with a nasty case of the sneezies. The basis of its magic is the fact that it's a pain-free way to get a ton of raw garlic into your system, and, according to garlic-central.com (garlic-central.com??!!!), ... Read More
